Meet the best duo in the world

If you still don’t know Brutalismus 3000 by now, it means you’re unaware of the hottest post-techno punk Gabber duo in the world. They also dabble in hardstyle, electronic dance, hardcore, and hyperpop. If you don’t know what half of those words mean, that’s okay. But, let’s go breakdown who they are and how they’re single-handedly redefining/reviving Berlin techno/hardstyle.

Funny enough, the group met on Tinder back in 2018. I’m glad something good came from the cesspool of an app considering my past Tinder flings. Musically, the couple compliments each other like ying and yang. Victoria Vassiliki Daldas handles the vast majority of all vocals, mixing German, English, and Slovak. Coming from a choir background, it and naturally, but it also wasn’t something she imagined as a career. Theo Zeitner on the other hand, has extensive producing experience. Theo said in a interview that he despised techno as a teenager. Even going as far as producing to make a point of how easy and dumbed down the genre was. Ironically, this is the same way he found his true calling.

Their first show was in front of 2,000 people in Paris. So, it’s fair to say they jumped the grind that many smaller DJ’s and artists have to go through. But, it’s no discredit to them either. Their first project, “Amore Hardcore” released back in 2020. Stand out song, “No Sex With Cops” definitely raised some eyebrows. Originally, the song was pretty extreme and they actually had to numb it down in fear of falling into the political whirlpool. Many of their lyrics may call for violence or ignorance towards traditional values. I’m not comparing them to NWA either. But, as Theo says, the lyrics just fall how they fall. Artists make music based on what they feel and what they experience, right? Like every other human, sometimes you just want to break shit. Other times, it’s F*ck the Police. At the end of the day, it’s just music.

Without a doubt, they caught their biggest break in 2022. The duo was invited to perform at the legendary Boiler Room in London. Their all-time live performance of songs like “Satan Was A Baby Boomer” and my personal favorite, “Atmosfera”amassed over 4.2 million views on YouTube and sent them into a new stratosphere. What truly makes them special, aside from their insane production, is Victoria’s live vocals at every show. It’s pretty rare to find techno DJ’s with live vocals.

As many artists would do, they’d take this opportunity to book as many shows as they could. But, Brutalismus 3000 isn’t like everybody else. Doubling as a couple, they’re content with hanging out in Berlin, surrounded by friends and family. They’ve remained patient, only playing shows they felt comfortable playing, and taking their time on their newest album, “ULTRAKUNST” which proved to be nothing short of a masterpiece. The album definitely has a mix of hyperpop, but didn’t stray far from what they do best. Post-punk techno blended with Gabber that makes your skin jump to every beat. Gabber, if you’re not familiar is a subgenre of hardcore, which consists of fast beats, heavy kick drums, and distorted sounds. NU-Gabber is the sound they call themselves, a mix of everything together.

According to my sources, Brutalismus 3000 will makes their first North American appearance sometime in 2024. Wherever they are, I’ll be there, and you should be too. Go check out their music below.
